Good news: There are no rules, and every film needs its own strategies. Keep in mind: Distribution can take as long as the production of a film and like filmmaking it requires a vision.
You are innovative, creative film makers who produce inventive ideas and want big audience for our films. But how do you gain visibility and build buzz? How do you stand out in an increasingly crowded market? What are some effective strategies? And, how should producers navigate these new challenges and opportunities like crowd-funding, online-distribuion, DIY, traditional distributors and sales agents? What and who is the best for your film? And how do you finance all those ideas?
Two film examples (How to make a book with Steidl, El Bulli) will be discussed, what has worked and not, national and international marketing and sales strategies, about success, failures, budgets, timing, changes and new trends in the film market.
