Interactive Documentary, The Netherlands 2014
This interactive project explores the immersive story of the hijacking of a ship in Somalia. By delving into both sides of the story, the audience discovers the complex realities behind piracy in Somalia through the eyes of a pirate and a captain, an advocate and a journalist, a parent and a wife.
Combining live-action video and animation, the interactive experience gives the user the opportunity to navigate the real stories of the protagonists, building to the hijacking itself and its aftermath. With an elegant use of data visualization, the project provides unique, informative insights into the murky world of the hijackings that take place in this East African region.
