With its theme “Between industry and individualism,” this year’s panel on German animation took a fresh look at the status quo of animation in the country. It examined the question of whether, and how, it is possible to fulfill the needs of the film and media market in Germany and internationally.
Can you do animation in Germany with commercial considerations in mind, while still retaining your personal style and creative independence? Is there even a market for creative works? And how can you overcome the conflict between what you want to do and what you can get paid for? Directors, producers and funders from the German animation scene will try to answer these questions in a lively panel discussion. A keynote address will open the discussion. The panel is being held in cooperation with AG Animationsfilm, the trade association for the German animation industry.
