After sixteen years in prison, Uisdean returns to his home at the edge of a Highland loch, to look after his father. However, as 92 year old Calum recovers with the care of his son, both struggle to start over again and find a shared normality beyond the stigma of Uisdean's murder conviction. However, after a year of living as a 'marked man' in a small village, Uisdean is suddenly re-arrested and taken back to prison for stabbing a neighbour. He sits destitute in a prison cell, disowned by his family, until an ex-journalist takes on the battle to have him released. Is what follows a transformative love that promises to liberate Uisdean from his past, or is it the story of the risks people will take to feel less alone?

Cardiopolitika

Cardiopolitika
Cardiopolitika Russia / Produced by: Film Studio «NOVYI KURS»

Cardio surgeon Sergey Sukhanov, who has performed more then 20000 operations on the open heart during his career, always despised politics. He believed the only value in this world were a human life and health. He was proud to be a doctor and all his life he worked hard for the good of society. Thus he has earned the love and respect of the people of his native Ural region. In the end, he managed almost the impossible - the huge modern Cardiac Centre was supposed to be built on the border between Europe and Asia. The government has allocated substantial funds for construction of the Centre, but its delivery was constantly delayed: budgetary funds embezzled. Tired of fighting with regional officials responsible for the construction, Professor Sukhanov was about to lose hope for a fast resolution of a problem. In late 2011, Sukhanov has got an unexpected offer from the Kremlin to head the Vladimir Putin's election headquarter. Realizing that the government uses him, Sukhanov accepts the offer, hoping in turn to use the protection of the authorities for the solution of the problem with the new Cardiac Center. Suddenly, the political activity captures the professor.

In Country

In Country
In Country USA

In Country is an immersive feature documentary about a platoon of soldiers who are recreating the Vietnam War in the woods of Oregon. Weaving together verite footage of the reenactments with flashbacks to the characters' real lives and unseen archival footage from the Vietnam War, IN COUNTRY blurs the boundaries between reality and fantasy, past and present to tell a story about the lives of soldiers and the act of remembering. The question at the center of In Country is why? Why would these men - many of them combat veterans of Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan haunted by their own experiences on the frontline -- try to recreate a war that so many Americans have tried to forget?

In Country is not just about the aftermath of the Vietnam War or the fantasies of grown men; it is a meditation on how the drums of war continue to draw men to battle despite devastating consequences.
