First DOK Day on 05/05
To make the time go a little faster as we wait for the festival to start, DOK Leipzig is now presenting films all year round. In collaboration with selected city cinemas, DOK cinematic gems will be showing in different months throughout 2016. The films are audacious and provocative, both politically and artistically – and as such anticipate this year's festival motto UNGEHORSAM (DISOBEDIENT).
The Cinémathèque kicks off the series of films on 05/05 at 8pm with documentary film 'Grasp the Nettle' (DOK Leipzig 2013) by Dean Puckett. The English filmmaker accompanied a group of activists to London's Parliament Square and filmed what happened there: a mix of political struggle, laborious grassroots democracy and police violence. In order to shoot the film Puckett gave up his flat and job, the better to delve into the lives of the activists and their fight for a sustainable life.
More DOK Days to follow on 08/08 and 10/10.
