DOK Leipzig is the largest German and second largest European festival for creative documentary films, animations and interactive works. The previous festival edition gathered around 50.000 visitors. DOK Leipzig is also an important meeting point for the German and international documentary film industry. In addition to the over 300 films screened, the festival offers more than 70 events and parties during the festival week. The forthcoming 60th edition of DOK Leipzig takes place 30th October - 5th November 2017.

We work with over 100 enthusiastic volunteers to create the unique DOK Leipzig atmosphere and to ensure our festival guests and visitors have the best possible festival experience. Our staff and volunteers are our greatest assets, because they are often the first and the last impression of the festival.
How does it work?
You can apply as a volunteer as of beginning of September. Each application is processed individually and each applicant will be notified latest by 4 October if we are able to give them a volunteering position.
Save the date: Volunteers are invited to join an orientation session on 11 October.
After the orientation session we begin to schedule the shifts for the volunteers. We send you a form where you can fill in your shift requests. Please note, that each volunteer should be able to work about 6 hours on each day during the festival week. The volunteering shifts are finalized a couple of weeks before the festival.
What do we expect from you?
DOK Leipzig looks for enthusiastic volunteers who feel passionate to make the 60th festival the best DOK festival so far. We hope that all volunteers are friendly, have good communication skills and a positive attitude. Advanced language skills are important especially in guest and audience related jobs. We are looking for volunteers in all age groups, but you should be 18 years old when the festival begins.
You should be able to work flexibly throughout the whole festival week. Daily shifts are usually approx. 6 hours long, but actual working hours depend on the festival program. To get a full festival experience, we recommend that you take the whole week off from work/studies, so you will have enough time to also enjoy films and other festival programme.
Voluntary work is not paid and DOK Leipzig cannot provide accommodation or pay for travel expenses for volunteers coming from outside of Leipzig. All volunteers must sign a volunteering contract with DOK Leipzig.
What can you expect as a volunteer?
As a volunteer you are an important part of the success of the festival. You get a glimpse behind the scenes and you surely meet a lot of new interesting people. The international atmosphere and a wide variety of the newest creative documentaries, animations and interactive works grant you an eye opening experience.
To thank our volunteers, we give you free accreditation to the festival, a limited edition DOK Leipzig sweater or t-shirt, an exclusive thank-you party after the festival, and of course an unforgettable experience. All volunteers are able to use their accreditation to watch films when they are not working, and to participate in numerous other programs and events. We organize an orientation session on 11 October, and each team has training sessions before the festival, where the jobs are discussed in detail.
Please read carefully the job descriptions we will update in August, and think which one would interest you the most.Application deadline is the 30th September 2017.
