Winner Doc Alliance Award 2012

Winner Doc Alliance Award 2012Doc Alliance-Award-Winner 2012 THE WILL by Christian Sonderby Jepsen

The first winner at DOK Leipzig 2012 has been named!

At the opening festivities the Doc Alliance Award has been solemnly presented. The winner is:

THE WILL by Christian Sonderby Jepsen, Denmark, 2011

Statement of the Doc Alliance Jury:

"The Doc Alliance jury is thrilled to award its prize to a film about a contemporary Danish fami-ly oscillating between hope and despair. The film follows two brothers, all struggling with per-sonal demons and misfortune, who stand to inherit millions when their grandfather dies. However, their deeply broken family presents a formidable obstacle, and matters become complex. The filmmaker follows and portrays these sometimes funny, and often sad, events with a distinct voice and cinematic vision.  For this dramatic and emotional journey, conveyed with empathy and power,  the Doc Alliance jury awards its prize to THE WILL, directed by Christian Sonderby Jespen."

The prize is worth 5,000 euros and is handed out alternately at the six
European film festivals that have formed the Doc Alliance.

"The Will" is also screened at DOK Leipzig 2012. Find more information here.
