is one of the most significant festivals of creative documentary in Central and Eastern Europe. Presenting films of daring themes and distinct authorial style, its essential effort is to lead a dialogue with both these films and their authors. During the festival, films are accompanied by discussions with the audience, workshops, panel discussions as well as professional meetings or a wide section for film professionals. The six festival days are followed by a systematic all-year effort at further promotion and reflection of the documentary film. Festival echoes as well as regular screenings of selected films in partner cinemas are supplemented by expert publication activities. Within the last thirteen years, IDFF Jihlava has accomplished its motto „Thinking through film!“
The PLANETE DOC REVIEW Festival presents a selection of outstanding documentaries from the last 18 months, as well as thematic sections linked to discussion panels. The organisers believe that documentary may be a connecting factor with high-profile film art, as well as a reason for deeper reflection upon the world today. Therefore, it can influence both opinion and behaviour, and may also be a factor in triggering change. Criteria for selection is the principle of high film culture and originality of style. Within the festival, we try to present documentary films and artistic trends such as radio documentaries, photography, literary reportage etc, and the programme for professionals will be constantly extended.
