The DOK Co-Pro Market features 35 international documentary and animated documentary projects in development and matches project holders with new partners for co-production, financing and distribution. The DOK Co-Pro Market expands networks, creates fruitful opportunities for new creative documentaries to enable the subsequent stages of production through discovering possible partnerships.

Over two days, DOK Industry organizes 850+ curated one-on-one meetings and plenty of informal networking opportunities in a friendly and welcoming setting. 

Partner delegations are invited to participate in the Co-Pro Market Open Programme that takes place alongside the main market activities. The programme comprises informal networking events and discussions led by international experts who share their practical knowledge on the international market and co-production.

Who?

The teams of 35 international documentary projects in development/ early production are joining to meet potential co-producers, financiers, commissioning editors, distributors, and sales agents. More than 175 professionals participate in the DOK Co-Pro Market, including 90+ international decision makers.

What?

Over 850 curated one-on-one meetings bringing together project holders with potential co-producers, co-financiers, distributors and sales representatives.

The two-day event will be preceded by an online workshop for the selected project teams as a warm up and preparation of their participation and to share inquiries and expectations.

When and Where?

The 19th DOK Co-Pro Market takes place 9–10 October as part of the 66th DOK Leipzig film festival and is located in Leipzig’s picturesque city center with industry venues and cinemas in walking distance.

A preparatory online workshop will be held ahead of the Co-Pro Market, details will be shared later with selected participants.

Awards presented at the 2023 edition are:

  • Saxon Award for the Best Documentary Project by a Female Director (along with 5,000 EUR)
  • Current Time TV Award (along with 2,000 EUR)
  • Unifrance Doc Award (along with subtitling services sponsored by TitraFilm and a Unifrance membership for its French producer)

Jury

The Co-Pro Market Jury decides on the Saxon Award for the Best Documentary Project by a Female Director as well as the Unifrance Doc Award.

After working with various festivals, Maëlle moved into international distribution, first with Point du Jour and Doc&Co before launching CAT&Docs with Catherine Le Clef. CAT&Docs distributes pertinent & impertinent docs on topical questions & timeless subjects; docs that are carefully researched, audacious, question the world & propose new ways of looking at it.

Carmen L. Vicencio
American Documentary

Carmen L. Vicencio is Supervising Producer and Programmer at American Documentary. She is the Showrunner of America ReFramed, the year-round, documentary film showcase on U.S. public television’s World Channel. Carmen is the lead programmer of the series and is in-charge of its acquisitions. Her job includes overseeing all aspects of the programme.
