Documenting Queer Realities: Representation on Screen

DOK Industry Talk 2025

Documenting Queer Realities: Representation on Screen

small

In collaboration with Queer Media Society, this panel explores how queer filmmakers use non-fiction cinema to navigate the challenges of visibility, expand narratives beyond victimhood, and experiment with new modes of storytelling. Three filmmakers participating in the DOK Co-Pro Market will reflect on their experiences, addressing questions of censorship, challenges in the film industry, and the possibilities of queer imagination in documentary. Together, we ask: how can non-fiction films open up more empowering, complex, and sustainable ways of representing queer lives?
