DOK Panel: Secrets from Inside the Editing Room

Where does the source of documentary magic bubble from? Since recent technological developments and a digital revolution of our industry, old workflows have been turned on their heads, and the stages development, production and post-production have begun to bleed into one another. This has most definitely changed and possibly redefined one important professional relationship: between the director and editor... .

DOK Panel: Himmel oder hölle? - animierte werbung made in germany

DOK TALK SPECIAL: From the End of a Myth. Images of America Post-9/11

The cowboy with the smoking Colt, the endless vastness of plains and later of space, the Statue of Liberty, “Motherland of Democracy,” and “Melting Pot” – America, until the end of the twentieth century, presented the formula for European policy and culture. From 9/11 on – until the NSA scandal – the image of pre-9/11 America crumbles and Edward Snowden enters the world stage as the new American hero. Simultaneously, the fascination for America seems unabated. It is remarkable how many documentary films currently emerge that delve into that myth. What does America now have to tell us?

DOK TALK SPECIAL: Maidan–Krim–Kreml Documentary Film Within the (Media) War

Obviously, the russian - ukranian crisis is more than the desperate combat between two unequal brothers. Moreover, it is known that the media in this conflict, concerning the intangible political, social, and cultural turmoil plays a central role. DOK Leipzig offers a platform of films of the most significant ukranian and russian Directors who work quite differently with the topic of the russian- ukranian crisis. At the DOK Talk Special the Directors discuss the question of Documentary Film and its role beyond the level of Media War. May Documentary or may Art even criticize within this field?
