Susanne Schüle, born in Neckarsulm, Baden-Württemberg, in 1967, studied cinematography at the HFF “Konrad Wolf” in Potsdam-Babelsberg after having completed a photography apprenticeship. She has worked as a freelance camerawoman since 1999, mainly for feature-length documentaries, many of which received awards at international festivals. She received the Leipzig Cinematography Award in 2001 and the 2003 Grimme Preis for her cinematography for “Absolut Warhola”, directed by Stanislaw Mucha. With Biljana Garvanlieva she codirected “The Accordion Player”, winner of the German Short Film Award “Goldene Lola” in 2007, and “Tobacco Girl”, nominated for the 2010 German Short Film Award. In addition to working as a camerawoman she has been teaching cinematography at the HFF “Konrad Wolf” since 2009.
