DOX BOX Global Day 2012
Solidarity Screenings for Syrian Film Festival DOX BOX
DOK Leipzig participates in the international DOX BOX Global Day show of solidarity organised in collaboration with the DOX BOX Documentary Film Festival in Syria, the most important documentary film festival in the Arab world. In the face of the suppression in their country, the organisers decided not to become dependent on government approval and cancel the fifth edition of their festival, which was planned for March.
As a sign of solidarity, around twenty documentary film festivals across the globe will screen a selection of outstanding Syrian documentary films from the past decades on 15 March to show their support for the Syrian people.
German patron of DOX BOX Global Day, in which DOK Leipzig, the Nuremberg International Human Rights Film Festival and the Berlin-based Arab Film Festival ALFILM are taking part, is Markus Löning, the Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid.
