Born in Zwickau in 1965, Carsten Fiebeler first worked as a caretaker and chauffeur before he began to study communications at the TU Berlin in 1991, followed by theatre studies at the Humboldt University Berlin in 1992. In 1994, Fiebeler began to study directing at the Film and Television University "Konrad Wolf" in Potsdam-Babelsberg. Around this time he began to produce his first short films, trailers and image films before making his feature-length debut in 2000 with "Heavenly Heroes". Since then, Fiebeler has worked successfully in international film and television, though he frequently returns to the documentary genre. In 2006, he presented "Too Much Future – Punk East!" at DOK Leipzig.
