Travelling by Train/ Plane

By Train

Local and long distance trains to Leipzig/Halle Airport, Dresden, Berlin etc. leave and arrive at the Leipzig Main Station, which is located near the City Centre.


The Festival Centre at Museum der bildenden Künste (Katharinenstraße 10) is only 5 minutes walking distance as are most of the cinemas, partner hotels and festival.


Most of the trams pass through Leipzig Main Station as well as the lines of Leipzig Cityring that can be reached from almost all festival venues.



From Airport Leipzig/Halle

The local trains, S-Bahn 5/5X, run every 30 Min. (from 4am to 1am) to Leipzig Main Station and Leipzig City Centre (Markt/Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz), travel time approx. 15 minutes

Tickets can be bought directly at the platform. You can find more information here: Airport Leipzig/Halle. By Taxi/Shuttle the travel time is ca. 30 minutes (depending on traffic).



From Airport Berlin (Tegel or Schönefeld)

Public transportation takes you to Berlin Central Station (Hauptbahnhof)/Berlin Südkreuz. Long distance trains (ICE or IC) depart regularly to Leipzig from either Südkreuz or Berlin Central Station, travel time ca. 1h15min.

Travelling by car

You can reach the Leipzig City Center via the motorways A9 (Berlin-München), A14 (Magdeburg-Dresden) and A38 (Göttingen-Leipzig).


A9 From munich

When coming from Munich on the A9, take the A38 at “Kreuz Rippachtal” towards “Leipzig-Süd/Dresden”. Then take the exit “Leipzig-Süd” and follow the B2 towards “Zentrum”.


Alternativ: A9 from munich

Take exit "Leipzig West", follow B181 towards "Zentrum" for about half an hour to the city center.


From Berlin

When coming from Berlin on the A9 you have to take the A14 and follow the sign towards “Leipzig”. Take the exit “Leipzig Mitte” and follow B2 for about 15 minutes towards "Zentrum".


from Dresden

Take the A14 towards Magdeburg. After taking the exit "Leipzig-Ost" you have to follow the B6 for about 20-25 minutes towards "Zentrum".


There are chargeable parking spots in Katharinenstraße right next to the Festival Office. Other parking houses are located next to the railway station (Leipzig Hauptbahnhof) and at Augustusplatz.
