DOK Co-Pro Market Project Selection 2018
The selection of projects for the 14th DOK Co-Pro Market is now complete. 35 film projects have been selected out of 270 submissions. They will now have the chance to find international co-production and financing partners at the beginning of the festival in Leipzig.
The selected projects come from a total of 30 countries across the world, from Sweden to Montenegro, Argentina to Ukraine, Lebanon to Hungary. The films frequently turn their attention to contemporary life and the world around us. Not only looking at the political situations in Russia or Europe they also address political and social changes in the Middle East.
The DOK Co-Pro Market takes place on 29 and 30 October 2018.
Three awards in total will be presented in the scope of the DOK Co-Pro Market. For the second time, Zonta Leipzig Elster e.V. sponsors a travel grant for one of the participating female directors. This year the grant will go to support Philippine director and producer Josef Dielle Gacutan with her project Miss Universe in Jail.
In addition, an award honouring the best documentary film project from a female director will be presented again, in co-operation with EWA, the European Women’s Audiovisual Network. The award comprises financial support as well as a one-year-long mentoring as the project is developed further.
New this year is the Current Time TV and DOK Co-Pro Development Prize, which honours a documentary film project from Central or Eastern Europe. The award is presented in cooperation with the Russian-language television broadcaster Current Time TV. These awards will be announced at the closing dinner of the DOK Co-Pro Market.
The final selection of this year's participants was done with the kind help of the producers Marion Guth (a_BAHN, Germany) and Georg Gruber (Magnetfilm, Germany).
