Selection Committee 2018

For many weeks their office is a dark room with a big screen for viewing all the films that reached us – it's the working environment of the seven film experts that form DOK Leipzig's Selection Committee this year.

 

The members of the 2018 Selection Committee are Ralph Eue (Head of Selection Committee), Daniel Abma, André Eckardt, Saskia Walker, Carolin Weidner, Annina Wettstein and Luc-Carolin Ziemann.

Ralph Eue (Head of Selection Committee)

Ralph Eue (Head of Selection Committee)
Ralph Eue (Head of Selection Committee) Film Publicist and Journalist

was born in 1953. He studied German, Romance languages and architecture in Marburg, Paris and Frankfurt. Since 1980, he works as a Film publicist and translator, until 1984 he was an editor of the fabulous journal Filmkritik. 1990-1995 he was the Press Officer of Tobis Filmkunst, since 1996 he works as a television journalist aswell. read more

Daniel Abma Filmmaker

Daniel Abma was born in Westerbork in the Netherlands in 1978. After a degree in primary school education, he moved to Berlin to be a youth media worker. Then he studied film directing at the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF in Potsdam. read more

André Eckardt
André Eckardt Curator and Publicist

André Eckardt was born in Berlin in 1973. He studied English language and literature at the Technische Universität Dresden. From 2008 to 2015 he worked as managing director of the German Institute for Animated Film in Dresden. read more

Saskia Walker

Saskia Walker
Saskia Walker Filmmaker, Curator and Translator

Saskia Walker was born in Cologne in 1970. She studied art history, French and Russian in Paris, Freiburg, Moscow and Berlin. Afterwards she completed postgraduate studies in film directing at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne. She has been a co-editor of Revolver film magazine since 2008. read more

Carolin Weidner was born in Bad Saarow, not far from Berlin, in 1989. She studied film, journalism and communication at the Freie Universität Berlin from 2008 to 2014. She has been publishing texts about film and the cinema since 2010, mainly for die tageszeitung (taz) and Spiegel Online. read more

Annina Wettstein

Annina Wettstein
Annina Wettstein Curator and Film Educator

Annina Wettstein was born in St. Gallen (CH) in 1977. She studied ethnology, French literature and management at the University of Zurich. She worked for the Solothurn Film Festival from 2009 to 2017 and was a member of the selection committee and attachée de programme from 2012 onwards. read more

Luc-Carolin Ziemann

Born in 1976, Luc-Carolin Ziemann is a curator, author and film educator. She studied cultural studies, communication and politics in Hamburg and Leipzig. She has been with DOK Leipzig since 1997 as a curator and is also the head of the DOK Education programme. read more
