“Hi Mom, this is Jan.” When the boy wants to tell his mother something, he must record it. He sends her the tapes and sees her very rarely. Jan’s mother has been in prison for a year and will probably stay there a while. How does an 11-year-old boy cope with the fact that there is no life together, no making sandwiches, picking up from school, or tucking in at night? We follow Jan through a day on which he prepares to tell his mother something important.
Amazingly weightless, impressionist cinematography in a study of our most archaic type of love as its substance is threatened.
