How do I get to Leipzig and where do I stay?

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects we will not have a guest centre or programming open to accredited guests during the festival week in Leipzig. The programme for accredited guests will be entirely online and your accreditation will grant you access to the Online Festival.

Tickets for the festival screenings in Leipzig are available to purchase if you live locally or travel to the city on your own initiative.

When can I buy tickets?

Film tickets for both – online screenings and screenings in Leipzig cinemas – are available online now. Please note that our VoD offers are only available to watch online throughout Germany via our streaming partner culturebase.org.

Accreditation for industry professionals and journalists is already open. The DOK Industry Programme will be entirely online and your accreditation will grant you access to the online screenings of the festival.

What are the venues?

Our 2020 festival cinemas in Leipzig are:

  • CineStar Leipzig
  • Passage Kinos
  • Schaubühne Lindenfels
  • Cinémathèque Leipzig in der naTo
  • Grassimuseum
  • Schauburg Leipzig
  • East Hall of Leipzig’s Central Railway Station

Besides the film screenings in the cinemas, the majority of the films will be available to audiences across Germany to watch online, starting on the day after their premiere with us. International accedited industry professionals will also have the opportunity to watch the films online as well via our streaming partner culturebase.org.

When do the films screen?

On Monday, 26 October, the festival programme begins with the Opening that will be available to watch online via our website. Afterwards the first film screening starts at CineStar 4. From Tuesday until Sunday the programme runs from 10 am to midnight.

The online film programme will also start on 26 October with the livestreamings of two films of the International Competition. The first Video on Demands will be available from 27 October. Please find more info about when and how the online screenings take place in our programme.

Does the festival offer barrier-free access?

We are committed to making DOK Leipzig as barrier-free as possible. The festival depends on the infrastructure of the respective venues but works to remove barriers when feasible. Find out more about our barrier-free offers here.
