Film series "AIR" in Mexico City
From 28.11–10.12.2013 DOK Leipzig is presenting a special film series on air and the city at the Goethe Institute in Mexico City. The series is part of the multimedia project AEROPOLIS, which is being organised this fall by the Goethe Institute Mexico in conjunction with regional partners. The starting point is that the problem of air pollution in Mexico City is still one of the greatest environmental problems facing the country. As part of AEROPOLIS, symposia and an art exhibition by local and German artists will be put on before year's end, and a vertical garden installation will be on display on a wall of the Goethe Institute.
In this context, DOK Leipzig curated a series of five films that look at the issue of air and the city through political and artistic lenses: PABLO'S WINTER (2012) by Chico Peirera, BREATHING EARTH (2012) by Thomas Riedelsheimer, SIGNER'S KOFFER (1996) by Peter Liechti, UNE HISTOIRE DU VENT (1988) by Joris Ivens and Marceline Loridan and STAUB (2008) by Hartmut Bitomsky are all films that were shown in Leipzig in past years or even began their international career here.
