DOK Leipzig Lake Festival

DOK Leipzig Lake Festival DOK Leipzig to showcase 19 festival films in IndiaOne of the films screened at 'DOK Leipzig Lake Festival': "There Once Was An Island" by Briar March (New Zealand, USA 2010)

In India, feature films are extremely popular and the movie sector is dominated by domestic productions – booming 'Bollywood'! Documentary films, however, are hardly ever seen in movie theaters. The richness of the international documentary filmmaking is almost unknown to the Indian audience. The Indian not-for-profit organisation Formedia together with DOK Leipzig set out to change this.

For the first time 'DOK Leipzig Lake Festival' will take place in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand in northern India. From March 7 - 11, 2013, the festival will showcase 19 outstanding German and international documentary films - this a unique chance for accredited guests and visitors from the region to explore the exciting and manifold up-to-date documentary filmmaking.
