DOK Industry Talk 2025

Story Sovereignty: Building a Framework for Respectful Romani Representation

small

This panel brings together key representatives from organizations working to improve Romani representation both on and off screen. Centering the concept of Story Sovereignty, the conversation will explore how Romani communities can reclaim authorship and agency over their own narratives in film, television, and cultural production and the broader role of antigypsyism in film.

The event is organized by The Critical Film & Image Hub at the Research Centre on Antigypsyism (Heidelberg University) in partnership with The European Institute for Arts and Culture, The Romani Filmmakers Network, Patrin Films Ltd and TUKE TV.
