Doc Together: When Freedom of Expression is at Risk

DOK Industry Talk 2026

Doc Together: When Freedom of Expression is at Risk

small

Freedom of expression is under growing pressure around the world, including in Europe. This conversation brings together documentary filmmakers, journalists and media support institutions to reflect on the current challenges to press and media freedom and what they mean for those working in the field. How can documentary filmmakers and journalists learn from each other’s practices and experiences? What role can institutions play in protecting freedom of expression? And how can we build stronger networks of solidarity and support? The conversation will focus on the current situation in Europe while also considering the broader global context, and explore practical ways of responding to these challenges.
