About

Animation Lab DOK Leipzig 2023 was a first collaboration between CEE Animation and DOK Leipzig. The four-day residential event took place 10–13 October 2023 alongside the DOK Industry Programme. The Animation Lab consisted of group work, personal and project presentations, lectures, direct 1:1 expert consultations and networking events – addressing topics such as film narrative, film development and pre-production, distribution and creative aspects of animated documentaries development.

Experienced producer Jean-François Le Corre and multidisciplinary artist Uri Kranot led the workshop programme, accompanied by the CEE Animation team.

Uri Kranot

Uri Kranot is a multidisciplinary artist. He has worked with Michelle Kranot as a duo for 20 years, and their work transcends the traditional: their art moves between experimental genres and unfamiliar media, fusing handmade images and new technologies to create contemporary experiences. They are often characterized by a poetic sensibility and fragmented narratives, exploring past and present, fact and fiction.

Uri Kranot is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and was awarded the Grand Jury Prize for Best VR immersive work at the 77th La Biennale di Venezia and for Best immersive XR at the 74th Cannes Film Festival.

Together with Michele Kranot, he directs the ANIDOX programme in Viborg, Denmark.

It supports decision makers with information and sharing the needs of the sector through the articulation of information and data analysis.

The CEE Animation Network consists of industry representatives from most European countries and beyond: Asia, Africa, Latin and North America.
