Girls' stories, teenage days. Seemingly nothing happens, and so much changes. Jagoda and Zuzia are friends from the neighbourhood. They meet at the local square. Sometimes they go for ice cream or to the playground. And they always have a lot to talk about. Being a girl is a special experience, and they are just entering puberty. Biology, hormones, pimples, first rebellion, first love. The first period – when will it come? Will there be anything else? Adults can't always give support or answers. And the girls see more and more. School absurdities, unwanted rules, and dilemmas to be solved. Jagoda and Zuzia are great commentators: contradictory, ironic, independent, and scared. With a great appetite for life! They introduce us to the “girlish” world that every woman remembers and any boy, who watches the film, will finally be able to discover.
In Burkina Faso, in the gold-digging site of Bantara, 16-year-old Rasmané descends more than 100 meters deep in artisanal mines to extract gold. Anxious about accidents, Rasmané makes his way in this world of fierce adults in the hope of one day becoming emancipated…
The members of the legendary theatre collective Workcenter founded by Jerzy Grotowski speak so frankly about their experiences related to work using the controversial methods.
How much would you sacrifice to experience transcendence, to go beyond the body?
Members of a legendary theatre group continuing the explorations of Jerzy Grotowski give up everything for artistic research. Suspended between fascination and fear, they seek to transgress their own limits. The group resembles a miniature society with all its inherent faults, especially when it falls apart.
A touching, warm and painfully accurate portrait of a person with a mental disability. We observe the protagonist during her classes and therapies, we learn about her family situation, and we get to know what she dreams of and what she does in her everyday life. Animation brings Ewa's drawings to life and helps us to see the world through her eyes. We may not be able to fully understand her but thanks to Marcin Lesisz's film, we may at least get closer to her. We may realise what kind of problems she faces and notice the person, not the illness; the person who has the right to be who she wants to be.
A Polish fishing village in deceptive winter silence … This expressively designed everyday mosaic of a village community talks of Anka, Jesus, warmth of heart and coldness of feeling.
It grows slowly as an icicle, but one day, it drops and crashes. Anka loves cats. And Jesus. In a winter silence, the lagoon freezes and the unspoken resurfaces like a crack in the ice. A mosaic portrait of a small fisherman's village where human to human, human to animal, animal to animal interdepend on a delicate balance of warm tender care and cold emotional cruelty. An eerie story of loneliness and community narrated with magical realism.
