Roundtable

This roundtable co-organised by Animation Production Days brings together creators, producers, and experts for a candid look at where European adult animation stands and what needs to happen next.

This three-day workshop in collaboration with CEE Animation is designed for professional producers who are developing their first animated documentary and are eager to explore the international landscape of the animation industry.

Throughout its history, sci-fi cinema has used animation and animated effects as key tools for depicting outer space, alien worlds and distant galaxies. In celebration, Animation Night invites you to leave Earthly reality behind and venture with us on a cosmic journey into a universe of space-themed experimental film and cinematic live performance.

What does it mean to curate queer cinema today? This panel explores how film festivals can create visibility, foster queer communities, support emerging filmmakers, and challenge mainstream representations of queerness.

For Helena Třeštíková, the most important cinematic material is time. For more than five decades, she has accompanied different people, often over many years, working with great sensitivity and extraordinary intimacy to create portraits of emotional force and social depth. This hommage extends from the early étude “The Miracle” to “Private Universe”, via “René” all the way to “A Marriage Story”. In the International Competition, DOK Leipzig is presenting Třeštíková’s latest film: “Bára – Diary of a Rockstar”.

Empathy is the animated essence of every Trollfilm production. With its Animated Film Hommage, DOK Leipzig wants to honour the Trollfilm Studio – which has been active for more than 30 years – for its humanism. Two film programmes and a Masterclass demonstrate the range of a studio renowned for its cut-out animations produced and its use of a multiplane animation stand.
