This week the European Film Academy (EFA) announced its EFA Documentary Selection 2016. A total of 15 documentary films were nominated, which are now candidates for the European Film Award.

We are proud to announce that no less than three films from last year’s festival are included in the EFA’s selection.

The nominees are:

“The Longest Run“, directed by Marianna Economou

(World Premiere at DOK Leipzig 2015 / Winner of the ver.di Prize)

“The Event“, directed by Sergei Loznitsa

(Winner of the Leipziger Ring, 2015)

„Herr von Bohlen“, directed by André Schäfer

(World Premiere at DOK Leipzig 2015)

EFA members have until the middle of October to vote online for the films to be on this year’s shortlist. The EFA holds its final vote, with the winning film announced at an official award ceremony on December 10, 2016 in Wrocław.

We wish all three films every success!
