About

PROGRESS, founded in 1950 East Berlin, boasts an extensive and historically rich archive collection. This includes footage from DEFA, the film production company of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), and more rare archives documenting not only Germany’s, but the world’s past. They are dedicated to immortalizing history. PROGRESS “preserves, digitizes and indexes an important part of the audiovisual memory of the 20th century and makes it available to the public on a historically curated platform.”
