A good film takes time. Research, financing, pre-production, shooting, editing, post-production, festival distribution, sales... time that the filmmakers and productions from the Arab world did not have when the upheavals shook the very foundations of their societies.
How can films be produced at all under such circumstances? How spontaneous can, how well-prepared must one be if the result is to be serious and distinguishable from daily news reports? To what extent can, should European production and distribution companies become involved?
