Erika Gregor read German and English literature and history in Göttingen, London, Munich and Berlin. In 1963, she was one of the co-founders of the "Freunde der deutschen Kinemathek" (today "Arsenal – Institute for Film and Video Art e. V.") and began to work as editor of the "Kinemathek" series of papers. She was a member of the selection committee of the Berlinale section "International Forum of New Cinema" from 1971 to 2001, which she also organised in addition to editing its information leaflets and catalogues. Gregor also curated various series of films and edited accompanying booklets, including "Stations of the Modern Age in Film" and "Jewish Worlds". She has also served on the juries of various international festivals.
