What is a surrealistic documentary film about bipolarity? How to live in "Future", a small village far off in the russian countryside? And whatever was the "Stockholm-syndrome"? Answers will be given at the 23rd REC-Filmfestival from the 3rd to 6th of December 2014, at the new venue: the historical cinema of the former UFA plant in Berlin-Tempelhof.
REC internationales junges Filmfestival will present the films of ambitious young directors from age 16 to 27. It is 35 films from 14 countries, which will be appraised by a jury of established directors. In this competition the jury has two tasks: Beside the awarding of the best films, the jury also has to give a spontaneous and unadorned feedback, immediately after the screening. No simple task, but a valuable help from professionals to the young directors. And the best documentary film will be awarded by the "International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film" with the "Doku-Clip".
On top of that interesting workshops are offered, for example journalism for youth, also workshops about how to use DSLR-cameras, or about audio-equipment like mixers and microphones. Furthermore there is discussion forum with directors and information about education in filmbusiness.
Beside "REC internationales junges Filmfestival" there are two more competitions:
"Lichtspiele – Das Berliner Jugendfilmfestival", our new partner, screens up-to-date productions from Berlin pupil in the categories "Under-16" and "Over-16".
"REC for Kids" is the international competition for the films from kids and youth, age 6 to 15. 43 films from 13 countries will be screened. (For the young german audience the films will have a live german voiceover.) On Saturday, the 6th of December selected films for all ages will be screened in a family-program.
At all 95 films from young directors out of 24 countries will be screened in four days at the historical cinema of the ufaFabrik.
