Interactive Documentary, Netherlands 2013
Based on British journalist Steven Poole’s intriguing book of the same name, the interactive documentary visualises the manipulative power of language and looks at the changing role and responsibility of the media. Consisting of short films, an interactive data visualisation, and a participatory dictionary, the project critically and satirically reveals the unspoken messages and obscured meanings behind familiar media terms such as War on Terror, Weapons of Mass Destruction, Clean Coal, File Sharing, or Erectile Dysfunction, that are deliberately used to manipulate public opinion.
