Zonta and DOK Leipzig support female film professionals
The Zonta Club Leipzig Elster will kindly award a scholarship of up to 1,000€ to cover the travel and accommodation of one talented female director or producer to facilitate their participation in the DOK Co-Pro Market.
This scholarship is designed to create more access to the European and international market for female audiovisual professionals. A repeated claim of studies on gender imbalance in the film industry is that her financial resources often hold a woman back from attending industry meetings during the year. With this scholarship the Zonta Club Leipzig Elster and DOK Leipzig hope to make a small but impactful intervention in the career of one filmmaker and her project.
The scholarship will be awarded to one successful project selected for the 13th DOK Co-Pro Market at DOK Leipzig in 2017.
"I am very excited to partner with Zonta Club Leipzig Elster, with whom we share the common believe that every woman should have the right to live to her full potential, regardless of class, ethnicity or location”, says Head of DOK Industry Brigid O’Shea. We see these funds as being absolutely essential in allowing filmmakers and producers to join us to share the fruits of our network, knowing that in other countries and regions there is often little or no support to travel to markets. We hope this is a long-term partnership and we can support a diverse list of professionals over the next years."
Zonta is a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.
