Art is often in the unseen, and in this AR project art is in the motion. Motion is what brings together the changing characters, drawn by exhibition visitors and updated daily. By bringing anyone and everyone’s artwork to the Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig, this piece challenges the notion of authorship in the art space. Come draw!

A music-filled journey towards self-acceptance. In this VR experience we meet Mr. Saul, an aging man who works in a brothel and is hiding a big secret. Through Samba, carnival and a touch of kindness, he learns to embrace himself. “Finally Me” was delicately animated by Marcio Sal, who also contributed his own voice and movement to bring Mr. Saul to life.

Welcome to the Glitchbodies-verse, a virtual space where everyone is in charge of their own image. This game lets the player roam different environments and meet 59 protagonists from around the world. Inclusive and collaborative in nature, “Glitchbodies” stands in bold opposition to heteronormative conglomerates of the internet era, and does so in distinctive style.

See the Sphinx, Ancient Rome and the Eiffel Tower – all in one day! This 360° film is a visit to a miniature park and to the work of the Creator who builds it. By toying with our sense of scale, “Minitourism” engages with ideas of world-building and virtual reality as a medium. Both playful and contemplative, it invites us to consider the ways we build our world.

A touching dive under the sea, as we meet teenager Kanope on his journey to Europe. And we, underwater, with him. Poetic and beautifully animated, the film is grounded in the tragedy of those who could not finish their journey. “Murmuration” is inspired by real stories of minor migrants, who also contributed their voices to the film.

This film can go on forever. Or at least until we shut it off. A collaboration between a filmmaker, an artist and a machine, this generative film spans the length of the festival. Based on the visual archive and music of Brian Eno, as well as new interviews, this meditative audiovisual experience is created in real time through the imagination of a machine.

Fly through an abstract world, drawn in by digital ink. Inspired by Taoist philosophy and the writings of Zhuang Zhou, this interactive experience allows the visitor to fly, swim and soar as something other – and maybe more – than human. The game is controlled by moving on a custom-built balance ball controller, which heightens the corporeal experience.

Oto lives a quiet life on his planet until one day a spaceship crashes down. Out comes Exo, who claims half the planet as his own. A lighthearted story painted with dark humor, “Oto’s Planet” mirrors our own planet. As the story unfolds, the viewer can spin and rotate the planet to see it from all different perspectives. Oto’s planet is in your hands.

A white model of a home stands broken, shelled out, is re-animated with augmented reality. Through the recollections of two Syrians and a touch of animation, home becomes reconstructed. While this project is tied directly to the war in Syria, the model stands as a universal reminder of the horrors of war in general, as well as the power of memory.

A multimedia dive into the paradox of Nouakchott: a city that moves. The heart of this co-created installation is a new 360° film, in which the viewer is invited to join former nomad Mohamed for a quiet moment in the outskirts of Nouakchott, Mauritania. The film is supported by archival and vernacular media, so to paint a broad picture of a multifaceted city.
