Odd shapes stand in a desert landscape. At the push of a button, countless hands sprout from the ground. Hands, hands everywhere. Modelled on the Anime character Nico Robin who can make body parts grow anywhere at will, we are asked to contribute our own narratives and physical, intellectual and sensual impressions to this desert. The result is satisfying, in a surprising way.

We’re travelling from Paris to Venice without leaving China. This 360° film explores the fascinating reality of “fake cities” and allows us access to a world of imitation where the boundaries between original, fake, real and virtual are blurred. Locals guide us through almost empty cityscapes that serve as projection screens for a wholly different culture.

We live in times of upheaval. More and more technical innovations are part of our everyday life. But how dependent do we want to be? Or are we already addicted? Will there be a time when we have nothing but digital friendships, sex with robots, when we hack our own bodies? The transmedia project “HOMO DIGITALIS” consists of a documentary web series and a self testing game. How does the digital revolution affect us human beings? Does it turn Homo sapiens into a new species – Homo digitalis?

Pollution, food shortages, exploitation of resources, arms race and nuclear threat – all of them warning catchphrases for a changing – no, changed by us – earth. We need it as a biosphere, but it doesn’t need us. “Planet ∞” shows a 360-degree space taken over by one of many possible dystopias. There is no human life left in this new world. The planet has changed so much that only a few organisms are able to survive. Only mushrooms, insects and marine creatures are capable of adapting to the new conditions. Is this doom-mongering or realistic fear?

We don’t remember the first days of our life, especially the ones right after birth. Suddenly we’re in the world – the first vague memories of some day, somewhere emerge. Our long term memory only starts to develop in the second year of our life. The beginning of life remains a dim hole in our memory. With “Life to Come 360°” audiences can enter the virtual reality of a neonatal ward and experience life there from the point of view of a preemie. The docu-fiction is part of the “ARTE360” app.

Based on audio recordings, this six-part interactive documentary examines John’s cognitive and emotional experience of blindness. Binaural sound and interactive 3D animations enable visitors to immerse themselves intimately in specific memories and places from John’s diary.

What does a worm have to do with the European forests? This game app offers a playful and informative story of the metamorphoses of earth. Minute finger movements change a landscape in fast motion from the ice age until today and illustrate how human beings influence nature. Little game episodes that invite especially (but not exclusively) young users to interact provide information about astronomy, geology and ecology.

The final version of this game app will be available free of charge for iOS and Android devices after the release of Jacques Perrin’s documentary “The Seasons”.
