In African society female emancipation is a current topic but controversial to many. In this film the hen protects the family, carries the bags and provides the food while her lazy and materialistic husband likes to be served. But an accident will change his point of view.

The world slowly emerges from blackness and falls back into blackness. The wisdom of life and death – and the wisdom of the cinema: black, frame, black, frame, black, frame. Via her film director Sandra Heremans, who was born in Rwanda, establishes contact with her father, who once came to Africa as a missionary from Belgium and fell in love with her mother there. Her images are personal and tender and take time to crystallize out of the blackness of the unborn film.
