They lead lonely lives, far removed from our own lifestyle. The quiet of the free field chamber clashes with the roaring of the engine room, but ultimately it’s all one.

We live in times of upheaval. More and more technical innovations are part of our everyday life. But how dependent do we want to be? Or are we already addicted? Will there be a time when we have nothing but digital friendships, sex with robots, when we hack our own bodies? The transmedia project “HOMO DIGITALIS” consists of a documentary web series and a self testing game. How does the digital revolution affect us human beings? Does it turn Homo sapiens into a new species – Homo digitalis?

This delicate 360-degree film takes us to India, into the life and memories of Ramadevi, a woman sold to sex traffickers under cover of an arranged marriage. She is one of the few who escaped the brothel and were reunited with their families. This piece is dedicated to her father, who gave away his daughter in the belief that he was giving her a better life.

Who are we? Where do we come from? “Reimagining Belonging” is a complex multimedia project which presents the different lives and routines of people with an immigrant background in New York and Berlin. Timed just right for the current debates, we also learn how global migration movements have changed and keep changing society in America and Europe.

Published between 1936 and 1966, the “Green Book” was a survival guide for African-American U.S. citizens, recommending safe places to avoid racist hostility on domestic journeys. “Ben’s Chili Bowl” has been among those recommendations since 1958. The intimate corners of this Washington restaurant become spaces of reflection for the racist degradation existing even today.
